Just moved to O2 and surprised at the lack of data connection when at a football match or in a crowd.  I had full 5 and 4g bars, but was useless.

I understand that a lot of users are using the same service, but I have a work phone from EE and it works perfectly. I can even stream the match at at same time it’s that good. Sadly O2 is failing customers here. Not sure whether  to cancel the contract now.

It's a known issue with O2

Congestion is a big problem and personally, if a connection is important for you at sports events, I would be looking at a different network to provide a decent service

@Daytona

The problem at football grounds, is that a lot of clubs have done deals with BT and that includes putting EE masts into the stadiums, and o2, Vodafone and 3 have to rely on existing infrastructure, which I am sorry to say is not worth upgrading for a day a week over 9 months of the year..

So unless you can get your club to fork out and sign a deal with o2 (Or the others) then it aint gonna change...
