Just to let anyone know, if you ordered a phone after 6pm on Wednesday and the tracking still shows as in Leeds according to the o2 man i spoke to earlier they arent releasing any orders until tuesday morning, so we wont get them til wednesday!! Poor service, not the next day (friday) service I was promised!!! Boo Hiss

Friday - bank holiday, Sat- Sun - Weekend, Monday - Bank Holiday.

After all, it's not like they didn't get any warning about it. Why leave it as a Delivery date and then leave loads of people feeling let down, especially brand new customers who stayed in waiting for the handsets who are still being charged as their contract has already started??!!
And guess what, once it arrives and I get charged my 1st bill, I'll have to waste more time contacting the billing Department to try and arrange a refund for the charges I am currently getting for not using the network!!
People keep banging on about how good the Customer Service is, but so far it's a poor start.

And we're not getting them on Tuesday as o2 wont let them out of their warehouse until tuesday, maybe implying they dont trust DHL! Theresz a suprise

Given the courier profit margin is quite small, the delivery company weren't going to allow overtime. When you work out how much you're going to be refunded, which is cheaper: a missed SLA or the drivers expense for the day? Of course, the SLA between o2 and the delivery contractor probably allows a no-blame clause because of official holidays.
Though you do have to look at yourself and ask if you knew the dates well in advance, why order it at the last minute after the SLA cutoff?

tbh i really couldn't care what the technicalities are, O2 let me book and pay extra £12, so O2 will have to refund!
Yes they will, all you have to do is call them and point out the stupid website allowed you to pay for a delivery slot that didn't exist, or at least never happened.
I'm all for people using their own common sense over placing orders at weekends and on bank holidays, but if the delivery slot was offered as a chargeable option then I don't blame you for assuming that it might actually happen.

If this is how the service goes at the start of the contract it doesn't really bode well for the rest of it. Luckily I'm still within my cancellation period and that may well be what I'm doing.

Today is a bank holiday, I would be surprised if there are any deliveries today. Also you say it was despatched yesterday and you "still" haven't received it. A tad unrealistic? 24-48 hours from despatch is perfectly reasonable.
Your bill is for the next months service, not the last two days, as you are always billed in advance for a mobile phone, I think you are being a bit precious about this tbh.
Of course you have the right to cancel if that's what you want to do, your 14 days doesn't even start until the day you take delivery so you've no problems there. O2 will also normally credit you for unused days if you inform them of the delay in the delivery. They are normally very reasonable about things like that in my experience.
Cancelling the whole deal and starting the process of buying a phone again over a delayed delivery due to a bank holiday seems very petulant and won't get you a phone any quicker. Any orders placed today would be processed tomorrow and delivered wednesday/thursday.

Having just rung Customer Services, he checked the order status and said that yes it was showing as having been despatched on the 28th April, this was then cancelled and is now showing as awaiting collection from the Service Depot in Leeds and should be with me no later than Wednesday.
As I and others have said before (don't know whether or not you have read it so I will mention it again) the Wedding date was announced well in advance for O2 to have adjusted the system to show that the 29th was a Bank Holiday and therefore take it out of the ordering system. As you said a little "commonsense" from someone in authority to have put that measure in place would result in people not expecting something that has been "promised" and "confirmed" in emails.
Nothing petulant in expecting to receive my handset on the day when they told me I would receive it.
