Existing sim in new phone

Existing O2 iphone 5, just bought a iphone 6 same sim size, swap sim over, iphone 6 just says “searching” instead of O2, any ideas why ?Thought i could just move sim over And new iphone 6 would be ok ?Thanks in advance.
