Hi all
After having a business contract on Vodafone for several years I recently decided to switch to O2.
I ordered a SIM-only O2 contract and received the SIM on Tuesday 20th. I already had my PAC from Vodafone ready so contacted O2 to port the number over. I was told it would happen within 24 hours.
A day or so later I noticed that my Vodafone SIM was still working, and incoming calls and texts were still going to my Vodafone SIM instead of the new O2 SIM. Data works on the O2 SIM, and in fact I can call and text from it with my transferred number. However if anyone calls or texts me, even from O2, it goes to the Vodafone SIM.
I've made numerous calls to both O2 and Vodafone customer services.
O2 customer services say that my number has transferred across to O2 successfully and the problem is that Vodafone haven't sent the final files over and closed the port correctly.
Vodafone customer services say that the PAC they issued to me hasn't been used, they know nothing of a port to O2, and as far as they are concerned I'm still a Vodafone customer. They even tried to sell me an upgrade!
O2 have escalated this to their porting team, but I'm still waiting to hear back. Has anyone had this particular problem before? I'm aware that split ports can happen, but never heard of this exact scenario where the previous network actually deny that there has been a number port take place!
