Hello all,

I have recently moved over from Virgin Mobile to O2 due the VOLT team up they have done.

Since moving to O2 I have noticed that the option in Mobile Data to enable VoLTE is no longer there when I have the O2 SIM inserted. If I remove the O2 SIM and place my Virgin Mobile SIM into my iPhone 13 Pro the option instantly appears again.

With my Virgin Media SIM inserted.

Looking on the O2 Help section for my phone it suggests the VoLTE option should be there
https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices?page=device/apple/iphone-13-pro/topic/settings/how...

Is anyone able to offer any advice on this please?

I have contacted O2 but they dont seem to know whats going on either.

Thank you.

Hello again,

I have been in regular contact with O2 on twitter where they have been asking me to do resets, check the APN, they turned 4G calling off and back on again their end, but the VoLTE option never appeared.

Then they sent the issue up to the O2 Networking Team who rang me yesterday to inform me that since the iPhone 12 4G calling is turned on automatically and that option is no longer available to enable it disable on the handset itself.

He could not explain why my Virgin SIM shows me the option other than a suggestion that maybe Virgin do things differently than O2.

The long and short of it seems to be that the option is not supposed to be there anymore and 4G calling should work.

It will be VM through there dodgy MVNO setup (Belgian Sim Cards, UK numbers and Vodafone and BT(EE) MNO's ) is set to allow you to turn it off whilst o2 now default to be on, which is a good thing.

Glad you got some answers @tdbegley

Utter ******.

The option isn't there because O2 doesn't have a working VoLTE system in most phones. Try it. Make a call and the icon in the top corner will go from 4G to H or G. Same with Vodafone. In Ireland O2 doesn't work either although Vodafone does for calls. The IMS SMS doesn't work though.

Only EE and 3 have working VoLTE and IMS SMS in the UK. That's why your VM SIMs work.

Basically you won't get it working no matter what you do. It's up to O2 to fix it.
