Can anybody out there advise on the best security available for iPhone and iPad thank you for your help

Do you mean Anti Virus?
If so, it's not needed for a mobile phone/tablet.
The worst you can get is adverts and it's not possible to install anything with malicious code esp from Apple.

They have their own inbuilt versions.

Make sure activation lock and find my iPhone are activated.

Enable the 4 digit passcode and Touch ID if applicable.

Enable your sim pin.

I also disable the Access on Lock Screen for Control Centre if I leave the house.
That way if I misplace them and they fall into the wrong hands, they won't be able to disable wifi and enable airplane mode to make it easier to track!
