If it's anything like the iOS 7 launch last year then you can bet the servers will be crashing under the amount of people trying to download it at once... If I recall mine didn't actually work until the following morning!

 

Further consideration however - if you're expecting iPhone 6 Friday, will you wait for iOS 8 and experience it all with a new phone? Or try to install later on today / early tomorrow morning...

 

Then again there is no guarantee you'll receive an iPhone 6 on Friday, that is if you have ordered one...

I see many people who are not ready yet to upgrade or who are still happy with their current iPhone upgrading to iOS 8 ~ as long as their iPhone is compatible.

How and when one upgrades to the new iOS is user preference dependant.

The servers will be über busy tonight yes. slight_smile

Mainly targeted at business applications and associated security from what I've read....
No doubt every Apple user in the UK will be hammering the update button from 6.00pm regardless of their phone working perfectly well now wink
