iMessage dropped pin

Hi 

I sent somebody a dropped pin as an imessage and I've been charged 54p as a picture message. 

That can't be right surely?

Did it go as iMessage ?

If either you or they didn't have data at the time it would default to sms /mms.

Turn off mms in message settings to prevent this.
