I have used my iPAD (via wifi networks) for several months without many problems. Occasionally, I have problems sending emails and wonder if this is to do with the SMTP settings (smtp.ntlworld.com - my primary server) in the email account settings on the iPAD.
I recently purchased a pay as you go pack for the iPAD and have managed to send emails via the 3G network but only by switching off any smtp servers configured on the iPAD. I did this after talking to the data tech guys this evening and it worked.
However, once I get back onto my home wifi network I cannot send emails because there are no smtp servers set up and messages just seem to sit in the OUTBOX.
Have I done something wrong when setting up the iPAD/email settings originally? I can't imagine that I need to change the settings each time I switch from a wifi network to a 3G one.
Thanks in advance.
Cliff

Try going to select your mail account and turn it off and then back on it works for me on blueyonder email address from time to time when it goes funny.

What is confusing is that the tech support guys said I shouldn't have to change the email settings at all. the device should switch between qifi and 3G seamlessly and I should be able to send emails however I am connected.
My experience is that switching from 3G (where no SMTP server is defined or apparently necessary) to wifi, results in not being able to send emails unless a SMTP server is set up. The iPAD has been connected to iTunes and the carrier settings have been updated yet I still have this problem.
OK - I can just remember to activate a SMTP server whenever I switch back to wifi but I shouldn't have to - is what I understood I was being told.
