Hi all,
I bought a brand new sealed iPhone 5S on eBay from someone who had received it as an unwanted O2 upgrade.
Therefore the iPhone is locked to O2, which is fine at the moment as I am with Tesco Mobile. But I'm thinking about moving networks in the future and so I would like to get the phone unlocked.
I understand that I can do this by getting a free O2 PAYG SIM, topping up by at least £15, making a few calls using the SIM in my iPhone, and then filling in the iPhone unlock form on the O2 website.
However, I am aware that O2 are currently only unlocking the iPhone 5S for people on a Refresh Contract, which obviously I don't have.
So my question is, when will I likely be able to unlock my iPhone 5S using the above PAYG method, and how will I know when I'm able to do this? Will there be an announcement?
Thanks in advance

At the moment O2 are only offering unlock of the iPhone 5S to people on a refresh contract, who have paid it off. Those who haven't aren't being offered an unlock.
People have been filling in the online form and 99.999999%* (*an estimate) have been declined, with the odd one slipping through. This is due to people not checking the model correctly when they receive the forms.
Recently (last week) O2 opened up sales of the 5S to O2 Open customers. This might be relevant because it means that there is now free-flowing stock, which is what O2 wait for typically before allowing unlocking of iPhones (assumption based on events with previous models). So, it might be happening soon (I obviously can't guarantee that, but the signs are starting to point that way).

Possibly why they're turning up on Ebay.
Keep in touch with the forum for the latest on this.
