I'm new to this forum, but could do with some advice and would like to hear other people's experience in connection with unwanted charges while abroad with an iPhone.
I was charged £1.99 for O2 Travel earlier this month without knowingly accessing this service. Customer Services were sympathetic, explained that functions like iMessage and Push Notifications could activate this, advised me to turn off Mobile Data altogether (not just Data Roaming), and agreed to refund the charge.
However, today I again received a text from O2Roaming advising me that I was on O2 Travel with a £1.99 charge, and this despite having turned off Mobile Data, and having already been in the Republic of Ireland for a week using my (iPhone 3GS) normally for texting home and with Wi-Fi.
After a rather unsatisfactory exchange with an 'O2 Guru' I've been looking around the O2 site for more help..
The O2 Guru has now removed O2 Travel from my account.. will that have any other consequences? I'd like to be able to phone the UK occasionally using my normal free minutes plus the 50p connection charge - is that under O2 Travel?
Has anyone had similar experience?
Roy
