Unlocking an iPhone bought from Carphone Warehouse?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all,

I upgraded at Carphone Warehouse last week to an iPhone 6 Plus with a 5GB 4G contract.

Can O2 customer services unlock this iPhone for me? I'm unsure as it came from Carphone Warehouse and not directly from O2.

Thanks

Nothing is ever simple. Smiley LOL

info: Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.
info: You're through to '******'
Me: Hi
******: Hello, My name is ******. How are you doing today?
Me: I just have a quick question about unlocking an iPhone 6 Plus.
Me: The website states; We won't be unlocking iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus for a while. We're prioritising our stock of these devices for customers who want to use them on the O2 network. The exception to this will be O2 Refresh customers who've completely paid off their Device Plan in full - we will therefore allow iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to be unlocked.
Me: Are O2 now unlocking the iPhone 6 Plus?
******: Yes, That correct.
******: We've not start unlocking iphone6 and 6 plus.
Me: If I bought my iPhone from Carphone Warehouse on an O2 upgrade will O2 unlock that?
******: Yes.
Me: But not if it's directly from O2?
******: Once we start unlocking then we will unlock the handset for you
Me: To clarify, if the iPhone was bought from Carphone Warehouse then it can be unlocked?
******: Once we start unlocking then we will unlock the handset for you , it doesn't matter than you've taken contract from CPW.
Me: Ok, thanks.
******: Yes, If you bought O2 contract from carphone ware house and want to unlock the handset then we'll do that for you.
info: We'll email a copy of your chat transcript to ******@*******.com.
******: Please take care and rest assured...every other thing will be taken care by me
******: Just for you I'll also leave special notes on your account so that when you contact us again, you won't need to repeat anything.

Just tell O2 you've paid it all off - how would they know otherwise?

My wife recently paid off an O2 Refresh phone plan and called to cancel her airtime plan. "No problem" said O2, we'll do that right away. Fast forward 3 weeks and she gets a bill in her email, O2 hadn't closed her account properly.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to get a straight answer from anyone at O2 and online chat is a shambles.

It's not a pretty picture.

Sadly, many of us would agree with that 😞
