Tesco sim

i have a spare iPhone 5 and my niece has a tesco sim. Will the sim work in the phone as I believe tesco use the O2 network

It will work if the phone is unlocked.

It's locked to O2 but I believe tesco uses the O2 network so would work

Tesco does use the O2 network, but the APN is different than O2's APN.

If you have an O2 sim you can get the phone unlocked for free if you're a Pay Monthly customer, or you would have to put £15 on a Pay & Go sim to unlock it. Take a look at this help thread written by @MI5

Of course you will need to check if the sim your niece has is the same size. If not she may need to do a swim swap at a Tesco Phoneshop or online at tescomobile.com

Sim should work fine and the phone should pick up the settings automatically.

A tesco sim works fine in a Nokia E 72 I have that is locked to O2.
