I have an iPhone 5 and have just come back from a weekend in Hamburg. The Network coverage on O2.de was very poor. Just walking around it disappeared at frequent intervals. Sometimes re-starting the phone helped. Sometimes I could access maps but not use the phone to text or make calls. All in all not very good and I am sure I incurred quite a lot of cost.
What was all the more galling that a friend with an iPhone 4S had a better time of it than me. He is also on O2 but had better coverage at numerous times. When we were sitting side by side in a bars we checked and more often than not I had 'No Network' while he had 3 or 4 bars.
Does anyone have any ideas about a) Why the network was so bad? b) Why there was such a disparity between the two iPhones?

O2 UK aren't responsible for whether your phone works outside of the UK. O2 Germany is a seperate company, just like O2 Ireland etc. O2 UK can't say why O2 Germany's network was poor in Hamburg, or why there was a disparity in performance of your two iPhones.
Those would be questions for O2 Germany to answer I'm afraid.
