I can't connect to online chat so thought i would ask in here. Just received my Iphone 6 today. I'm upgrading from my Ipone 4s and keeping same number. I put SIM in , charged phone and i am now updating. Is there anything else I need to do to get it connected with my new number - like register or something. At the moment is says No Service. Thanks for any help.

Just follow the instructions you receive.
If you have completed all the steps you just need to wait for the sim swap to start then keep rebooting the new phone to help it along.

You will know the process has started when your old simcard loses network signal though you might have to reboot that on occasion to notice.

Good luck and keep rebooting the new phone until it connects. don't forget to deregister the 4s from your Apple id otherwise you may end up receiving each others texts.
