Extremely slow download speed

Hello, I have purchased a new iPad but when installing an app from the App Store have found that the download speed is extremely slow. Why should this be the case with 02?

What connection are you using for your download? GPRS will be slow moving up in speed as you go to 3G HSPDA and ultimately a wifi connection.

What icons are shown next to o2-Uk if it is a circle that is gprs if an E that is edge if 3 then it is any variant of o2's 3g network.

Grps slowest and in most cases unusabale for downloading

Edge faster but still slow

3 should be fast enough to do things quickly depending on how many others are on the cell downloading etc

If it is on o2 broadband and via wifi with the fan symbol what are other devices like.
