Has anyone found that their iPhone is using an incredible amount of data?

EDIT: I realise there are alot of posts for this but I am couldn't see one for the 5s, jsut the 5, 4 etc.

I get that they use more data than most phones anyway BUT I have used 500mb in the last 7 days doing LESS than what I used to do on my old phone which would only use about 400-700mb a month!

I would go on youtube, update, use the Internet endlessly on my Sony but now I barely use youtube on my iPhone etc and am chomping through data at an alarming rate.

I wouldn't be concerned by this EXCEPT with O2s new policy to start charging for overusage and whatnot I'm worried about either not being able to use my Internet or being charged an extra 20 quid a month.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I eventually rang the customer service just to be sure (as I can't get an instore appoinment with a guru for at least 14 days!!!) and they said that they looked at my account and even though I have wi-fi on at home my iPhone is updating on 3G at midnight every night.

So hopefully if I turn off the 3G when I get home it shouldn't rise much more.

You will not be charged unless you buy an aditional bolton under the new stop data at allowance limit.

I have just got my 5s and after a day used 13.6mb of data (but i do use a lot on wifi)

You can see what's using data in your iPhones settings.

Data usage on iPhone.
Settings - Mobile - shows each app usage at the bottom.

I've tried to make sure everything I don't use is turned off.  All updates are set to manual as I found that used a lot of data - now I just do the updates when I'm connected to wifi.

Wifi will turn off when the phone is in sleep mode and when it's switched on again will carry on using 3G if it starts any updates.

Turning off mobile data in the iPhone settings will force it to stay on wifi.

Or keep it on charge.

All data used in the previous day updates on your account at midnight in 2 seprate amounts one for upload and one for download.

So it is not what you have been told. which apps are using the data as bob decribed earlier.

Hiya sorry for late reply -

I checked and apparently 1gb is being used in the apple store!!! (I only download things that are more than 30mb on wifi!

I bought a bolt on for 500mb and have just run out 2 days ahead of my renewal so guess I'll have to just see what I use next month.

I turn my mobile data off generally when I am at home to use wifi, except when the internet at home is not working or is slow.

Remember to reset the data counters in your iPhones settings.
