Once the unlock has been done it will remain unlocked as if it was from Apple.
It will be probably free for contract and £15 for payg as per normal.
Yes it was 6 months for the iPhone 5.
Some here have requested an unlock but have been advised if your on a refresh tariff they wont unlock it until the phone plan has been paid off.

It will probably be the same timescales and costs as now
ie. free to pay monthly and £15 P&G
Phones will remain unlocked whatever sim you use.
