Hi,
As i'm sure others have noticed, the option to disable 3G for iphone has recently been / being removed via a carrier update. This was obtainted for me through itunes.
I cannot stress how incredibly annoying this is. Everywhere i go i have dreadful reception for 3G which causes both my battery to die almost twice as quick and also means i have awful phone signal for voice conversations.
I've recently signed up to a new 24 month contract after getting the new Iphone 5S but would like to know if this can be re-enabled in anyway???
If not, does anyone know if i am within my rights to cancel my contract over this?
I have no landline at home so now not having the option to switch to 2G indoors makes my new iphone useless when i would like to actually use it to talk to someone!!
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Funkhouser
Are you on iOS7 ?
I've recently updated to iOS7 and carried out the network update and still have the toggle to turn on and off 3G.

I might be reading this wrong.
I have uploaded screen shots from my iphone 5 with iOS 7.0.2

Is she on the same iOS7.0.2 version as me.
As said when I updated to iOS7 I then carried out the carrier update straight after, as prompted.
If that option had been removed i'd not been a happy bunny.
To be fair i only toggle that off when i toggle off mobile data,i toggle both off as habit, when at home to keep my iphone on wifi but thats not the point. User choice should take presidence.
I know ive asked before but............. Why is this being forced upon owners ?

Hi
If you are on EE and using an iPhone 5/5c/5s the option to turn off 3G is no longer there its replaced by an option to turn 4G off.
On Vodafone if you are on a 4G contract using an iPhone 5/5c/5s its the same.
I have just had a carrier update from O2 and its removed the option to switch 3G off and replaced it with switch 4G off. As I am not on a 4G contract its not that useful.
Its not to do with ios 7 it was the same last year on EE using ios 6.
