You will only achieve 4g in a 4g area and if your on a 4g tariff.
What indicator is shown in your status bar next to the O2 network logo ?

Some take up the 4g tariff even if they are not in a 4g area to take advantage of the current offers as this can still be used on 3G and 2g etc

It's my first full day of Hving an iPhone 5s and I may be missing something but can I still get 3G as all I see in my settings is 'enable 4G' which I see there is no coverage where I live?!
Hi Jackoslass,
There was supposed to be an update to this to enable users to choose between enabling 2G, 3G or 4G, however this was not implemented and it causes confusion with many people. If you enable 4G on your phone, it should find the strongest signal. If you are not on a 4G tariff and in a 4G area then you will not get 4G. As long as there are no issues with the network in your area then you should be able to get 3G.
