You would be better off buying from Apple or off Amazon.
O2 will only sell on contract unless available as a PAYG device.
Edit: Looks like it is available on PAYG so you could order one if you choose to.
If you buy in store they will force you to buy a top up, but you don't have to if ordering online.

To add to Amazon or Apple as mentioned by @MI5, you might want to check the Black Friday offers at Western Computers, an approved "Apple Premium Reseller" :-

They have a good reputation and do some reasonable deals.

Same price as Apple direct so I must be missing the point of this.
