If it's a function supported by O2 it will cost as it only works over 3g. You need to use Skype or Google etc to get free video calls over wifi.

Edit: Video calls are 50p per min http://www.o2.co.uk/assets2/Tariffs/paygo_charges_terms_intsim.html

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I doubt it would would work over wifi with data disabled. Whether it would automatically activate data I don't know but there are much more knowledgeable people on here who may be able to advise on that.

You dont need data to be switched on as Video calls use CSD (Circuit Switched Data), so basically a data call, hence why it is charged per minute.

It uses the 3G-324M protocol for those interested...
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK
