A programme such as Recova may help but if they aren't backed up anywhere I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Text messages that have been deleted are kept in a far distant piece of memory on the phone hence why the police are able to review past history.

However I have never been able to find a program that would allow the user of the handset to bring them back.

So I would follow Perksie's guidance. If you want to keep a text you can save a small number to your sim card.

It's easy to back up all text messages, sent and received, with an app if you feel it important enough...

I use SMS Backup +. It backs up your texts in Gmail.
