Ok so if the touch screen test is showing phantom lines appearing when you press a different part of the screen, then the touch controller is not registering correctly.
This can be hardware or software fault so may be possible to sort from home.
Back up all the stuff you want to keep and after connect to a pc and run pc companion.
Go to software update
Select "repair" (this will wipe ALL data)
After its completed boot up as normal and then test the touch service test again and see if it's fixed it.
If not, go to http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/
And select your device and request a replace / repair job.
If your device is under a month old contact o2 for a replacement otherwise go the sony route.

@viridis is the person most likely to help you.

For now, I will ask if you have a screen protector fitted, if this only happens when on charge or if you have tried rebooting the phone?

Has this started since you added any new apps at all too ?

Could also go to dialler and dial
*#*#SERVICE#*#* and go to service tests and then touch screen
Using slow movements, see if you have any jumping touches.

Btw, do you mean messaging or jumping cursor in chrome?

Thanks!
No screen protector and cache cleared, still no difference. Even now when typing the cursor moving down a line or gets one line above, same thing in chrome. Also charging makes no difference, still happens. Will try service dialer. Thanks!
