fed up with being charged a mms for a text

Fed up with this now ... if I send an average lebngth text it automatically goes as an mms and then charges me ... there is no way to find out the max length of a message before it gets sent this way.  I didnt sign up for this and therefore 02 are breaking their contract with me by doing this ... help!

Which phone do you have? Most phones have, in the message settings, an option to show the number of characters. A standard text is 160 characters including spaces. If you tell us the model of the phone we can point you in the right direction.

Thankyou for your time in responding, I have a samsung galaxy ace II running gingerbread xxlkg android version 2.3.6

I have looked everywhere for the settings to tell me how much I can type ~ but i cant find it and thsi amount changes anyway ...

And why am I being charged?  Surely the fair thing to do is to charge me TWO or THREE sms for it (free on my contract) instead of sending it as a Mms (very costly on my contract, so much so that I never send photos)

I've read through this list and none of them apply to me!!  

* Im not sending text to email address

* One contact only

* I dont use subject headers

* I dont send contact cards

* Probably a long message ~ but I'm NOT given the OPTION of sending it as two texts

* Dont use smiley faces

* And I dont attatch anything!

* There isnt a counter either 😞

Sorry to sound negative, Im just fed up with being sold a contract only to find it's not as cheap as I was led to believe 😞
