Xperia Z2 first major update :)

Hey Guys

New to the forums!

Im aware sony have released the first big software update for the z2 and unlocked handests get the update straight away however i know when you have a device thats locked by the network they have to approve the update first before we can download it. My question is in your experiance how quick are o2 at testing and releasing these updates once they get them? I left t-mobile when the S3 was out due to them taking months and months to release even small updates that unlcoked handests recieved months before hand.

gosh that was wordy sorry

Thank you wink

haha! thats my point, why they feel the need to brand phones with rubbish we never use is beyond me, especially when unlocked phones work perfectly fine!, also if that really was a true reason apples ios would need to be approved which it never has done on any network since launch

Quite true mate - Apple actually tell the networks what they can have in terms of carrier settings/updates, not the other way around.....

One reason among many I choose to buy iPhones. They are direct from apple to the consumer.

Not always the case, with the xperia z1 the major update to 4.4.2 was available to UK network locked phones before UK generic unbranded.
The networked locked versions require testing AND applying branding and bloatware, the generic versions still require the ok from networks to make sure they work ok.
In the case of xperia z1 4.4.2 UK generic. Apparently t-mobile didn't give the ok for ages which is why loads of people were flashing other countries generic unbranded roms.
O2 have really minimalist bloatware and the in firmware branding is really small. The update shouldn't be too long being honest.

sorry i took so long, had to take the dog out and now im drenched lol. I guess waiating isnt that bad especially when you get such rich features layered on top of android with sony. I would of stayed with apple but i want to be able to customise my device the way i want it not the way im restricted to slight_smile

Just hope they dont take to long

Have fun drying off.

I'm about to venture out in it myself.

Regarding restricting I know what you mean about everything apple does being in a sandbox ,but I refuse to let that happen with mine and enjoy my iPhone 'out of the sandbox ' , to its fullest potential ! wink
