Very slow 4G speed

Hi, I am new to O2 (Switched over from Three, whom I was able to get 20-30mb 4G speed)

I got my new phone (Galaxy S8+) a few days ago, however I have noticed the 4G speed in Manchester (M4 4FB) is painfully slow - 0.9mb to be exact. I couldn't load anything on social media or youtube this morning, and when I tried to download an app it said estimated time 20 mins.

I spoke on live chat for an hour and half, during which I was transferred to the wrong department about 10 times, and asked to confirm security questions the same amount of times which was frustrating. I did everything they told me to do and the issue still remains.

My question is - where do I go from here? Can I just not have 4g on my phone? How long do I get to cancel my contract and return the device to O2?

Many thanks for any help

Jordan

@jezza1234 Thanks for that post mate. Have you a link to the thread please?

I know it's a capacity issue and that higher frequency will help alleviate the problems, but surely O2 can't get away with saying they have all that coverage when it doesn't work?

I have to force my phone to 3G a lot of the time which is about 8Mbps on 2100Mhz yet the 4G would be running at less than 1Mbps on 800Mhz. Why can't they use carrier aggregation to sort the problem?

O2 coverage is improving especially in areas where they site share with the likes of 3. TBH Vodafone currenlty has the best 4G offering suprisingly.

I generally get terrible 4G speeds in Belfast but it's grand at home. I've just done a test in the BT4 area and get this! If only O2 could sort it out so that it is always like this!

@jonsie On the left is just the Samsung service mode. On the right is the My Network app by O2 from the Play Store.

71.3 mbps download speed?
Thats not too bad though is it? or is it the response speed that lets it all down?

Must admit that is a rather high response speed. 155ms? Jeez, my broadband at home (Virgin media) has a response speed (or ping) between 19ms and 21ms.

What should we be getting?

I've noticed recently when I am in Belfast City Centre that there are a few problems with O2 currently.

A couple of days ago I got a text message twice hours apart and arrived late.

The 4G is just horrendous at the moment in Belfast City Centre.

It is NOT always congestion. Some people actually have problems
