First of all, I refuse to be defined by technology! So all those out there who can't bear to be out of sight of their mobile phone I say 'Get a life!'.
Secondly, after being puzzled about my phone being 14 years old, I went to check a bit more carefully and discovered it's a Nokia 6300. Fairly basic, I know but it has served me well.

As I have just told PapaDug, my current phone is not a Nokia 3310 after all but a 6300.
I will not have any difficulty using a smartphone as I already have a Samsung tablet. I just wanted some extra connectivity.

As I mentioned to another poster, I have a Samsung tablet and wanted more connectivity when out and about.
By the way, my phone is actually a Nokia 6300 not a 3310 as I first thought.

Just to recap if your intending to use data etc when 'out and about' try to get as much data allowance as is possible.

One thing to be aware of that has yet to be mentioned is battery life. Please just be aware that whatever phone you decide on the battery will need charging a lot more than your 6300. Most of the battery use tends to be the screen.
As a Samsung stalwart of a number of years I tend to sway towards them but recently through Try The Tech I have opened my eyes to others including Windows Phone and BlackBerry. As you already have a Samsung tablet I would stick with Android and I agree that it would be a great idea to pop into an o2 or CPW store and have a play.
Please let us know what you decide to do. We are here to help 😀

Just like to say thanks to all those who have replied to my posts and given their advice. I will go to a store and have a further play before I decide which way to go.
