Fill out the form https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form you need a payg sim in it with £15 credit. You also need to make calls to register the sim to phone.

Some times the support team might reject the unlock request, they did on my old Galaxy S2 last week, I was on with someone on the O2 chat yesterday and they said it would be done on priority within the next 7 days.

If the phone is still in contract, which is unlikely if it's second hand, that's why they might reject the unlock request.

O2 will unlock phones in contract.

On the contrary, I sent a request to O2 via the chat last week, I found out yesterday that it wasrejected by the support team, I submitted it again, and it will be done as priority within 7 days.

That may be so but it has nothing at all to do if the phone is on contract or otherwise.....

If the unlock is rejected it can be a number of reasons, most problems are due to the correct procedure not followed or incomplete info on the unlock form.
