Tethering iPad via HTC desire to Internet

Hi,
Does anyone know way I can tether my iPad to my HTC desire but it won't see the Internet?
I know this will use my data allowance just curious as to why it won't work.

I managed to set up my HTC as a hotspot, connect my Raspberry PI and IPad to the phone and ping the iPad from the PI, which is what I really wanted to do. Out of interest I then tried to connect to the web from the iPad and it would not.

Cheers

Turning on the setting on the iPad then it should see the phone ,and you accept connection on the phone.

That's how I've done it in they past.

I assume your pay monthly.

Thanks for the reply, I will try again. the iPad was connected to the phone because it could see the raspberry pi via the phone.

I have got a monthly contract.

I'm a bit different because I use an iPhone.

All I did was turn on personnel hotspot on the phone.

Then turned the iPad to search and it picked up my iPhone and I accepted the connection.

Like you say tho be wary of your data allowance being drained quite quickly.
