Sony T keeps switching off

Since updating software to Jelly Bean my phone keeps switching off then on again. Can happen anytime whether it's charging, talking on the phone or generally using it. What shall I do

That error is usually a windows error due to the PC not having the correct drivers installed, usually related to the USB ports. Run windows update or try a different USB port on your PC.

First thing to try is do a complete back up of the phone then do a factory reset followed by an installation repair.

have backed up on computer, do I now do a factory data reset including erasing internal storage

Yes, as long as you have backed up it's best to completely wipe the phone.

Be warned there is a known bug in Jelly bean 4.1.2 for Xperia's with NFC so expect another software release in the near future.

Have tried to restore phone but comes up with an error E0000225 Unable to connect to device. exact error not known
