My grandson has a Samsung S5. I bought it for him about 18 months ago. Over the last couple of weeks he has been told people are unable to hear him very well when he calls them.

He has just tested this with me by ringing my mobile and landline. He is right ...I can hardly hear him.

Any ideas?

Check the microphone for dust or lint in the hole.
Go in settings, calls and turn off any background noise suppression features.

He did a bit of checking himself last night. Apparently one site advised him to clear a 'cache partition'...which he did and it didn't help....

If the checks don't resolve the problem, would the phone still be under warranty, and if so, does he have a backup phone to use if he has to send it off to Samsung?

It's always fluff in the mic hole - I posted about it a while back.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

No I have just checked. It's just 2 years old. He has no back up phone either. He is going to try the toothbrush trick ...and then I expect we will have to 'rethink'....

Lots of posts about cleaning the microphone hole out.
Some say to use a pin/needle but be VERY careful so as to not damage the phone.
In one extreme case someone suggested drilling the hole out so it is bigger!!
