You have no choice but to try and flash it yourself or take it to an independent repair shop and pay for repairs then.
If both O2 and Samsung say it's been rooted it must have been.

Hi

Rooting is allowing more to be done with the mobile than what the manufacturer intended and can void warranty. O2 wouldn't touch the handset if they thought it had.

It's akin to jail breaking on an iPhone.

I would suggest you seek assistance from the Uk support homepage of the manufacturer , which is what we normally suggest anyway.

Did you buy this brand new ?

I omitted to put this link in for you.

You could try a hard reset which could help although this procedure will wipe saved data.

A hard reset will not remove root.
You would have to flash the stock Samsung firmware again to do that, but now O2 have flagged it as rooted they won't touch it even if it goes back un-rooted.
Either fix it yourself by re-flashing or send it to Samsung who may be more sympathetic to your cause.

I didn't mean to imply it would @MI5 remove the root but maybe the hard reset would get the phone up and running again.

Have you asked them what proof they have to say it's rooted?

Then if your sure it has not I would go with the suggestion of approaching the manufacturer for assistance.

Fair enough but as it's not turning on either it could be a mute point......
