Random Text messages sent NOT by me!

Anonymous

Recently several of my contacts have had random text messages purporting to be from me but were definitely not! I delete all my old received messages and so were not from old data. The messages sent were nothing I had ever received or sent. Could my phone have been hacked or got a bug?

Have you installed any apps lately that require the 'Send MMS/SMS' permission?

If so I'd advise deleting them until you find 'the one' that is most probably sending these texts.

By allowing this permission you are giving the developer of the app permission to view all and send texts without your need to input.

Sometimes this permission is quite valid in some apps like 'Go Sms' and 'Handcent' which are custom text services. But, be wary of apps that ask for permissions that are not immediately obvious why they need them.

I agree with the above but would also reccomend that you find out exactly what the message says. a quick google search of the text content will most likely help you find the culprit and save you alot of time going through your apps.
