Hi Guys

I bought an oppo reno 5g phone 2nd hand a few months back. I love the phone and i currently use it with vodafone and it is working perfectly.

I was very frustrated to hear that i am not able to get 5g vodafone signal because apparently oppo or EE have done something to make the 5g signal only with them.

EE is too expensive for me to use and i have just spotted that o2 are now selling this phone. Does that mean i can get an o2 sim and 5G signal will work?

EE has exclusive deal I guess which has now ended so in theory you should be working on voda now if you have a 5g contract with them and are in a 5g area.

Well i have had no luck with getting 5g on vodafone and without any software changes, i can not understand how i would get 5g signal on o2.

So i would probably have to wait for a software change for 5g to work?

Your ability to get 5g is dependant on a number of things:
-does the network you use provide 5g to your area
-does the phone you have use 5g bands/signal
-are you on a 5g tariff with a 5g sim
The software the phone uses has nothing to do with what bands you can use.
What town/city do you live/work in?

1) Yes i checked the coverage map on vodafone and i have been in areas that are 5g compatible

2) What do you mean by this? It is a 5g handset but i do not know bands are on there

3) Yes i am currently on a 5g tarrif with vodafone.

I live and work in London

Also i think it could be a software related.

Please look at this thread. This is for a different handset.

So you can see why i am questioning whether 5G will work on my handset now.

There’s no logical reason why it won’t work on O2 but if it doesn’t you can cancel the contract inside 14 days so you’ve nothing to lose.

So I tried my wife's sim card which is the o2 5g sim only. I only ordered it through mobiles. Co. UK and it was cheap. I popped the sim card into my reno 5g and I still didn't get 5g signal  I was located at Balham Station which is an area there is supposed to be 5g coverage..

Very disappointed

Yh I ordered the 5g sim only tarrif for her. She doesn't have a 5g phone tho but that doesn't bother her. Guess I'll just stick to Vodafone knowing it doesn't work.
