Hi Guys
I bought an oppo reno 5g phone 2nd hand a few months back. I love the phone and i currently use it with vodafone and it is working perfectly.
I was very frustrated to hear that i am not able to get 5g vodafone signal because apparently oppo or EE have done something to make the 5g signal only with them.
EE is too expensive for me to use and i have just spotted that o2 are now selling this phone. Does that mean i can get an o2 sim and 5G signal will work?

Yes, you need a 5g sim and tariff and be in an area serviced with 5g.

But how do i know that o2 5G signal will work when vodafones one did not?

But i did not buy the phone directly from o2. I have had the phone for around 2 months now.

Yh ok but if my phone was bought a few months ago when o2 were not selling them, how can i know my device will accept o2 5G signal.
I never even knew about 5g signal being locked to a network. I really thought a 5g device can receive 5g signal from anyone providing the device handset is unlocked. (which mine is).

Yes but how does the phone know to accept signal from o2 and not vodafone for example?

Presumably it will depend on the software but if the phone is 5G capable then it should definitely work on O2. They won't restrict the 5G network at all.
