Not receiving text messages

Hello,

I'm not receiving some text messages on my phone, I'm not sure how long this has been happening for but I know there have been a lot I've missed lately. I've tried manually selecting another network like 02 recommend. I've also tried taking out my SIM card and cleaning it. Neither of these have helped. I'm using a HTC Sensation XE, running ICS. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Whatsapp is great, esp for me as I have friends and family overseas. I can text them for free anywhere in the world and you can send pictures (mms) for free too :). Group texts are free too unlike getting charged for an mms when sending group tests with O2. SMS is dead - long live SMS wink Proviso: Whatsapp uses data, so you need to have a data plan with free data for it to be free to send and receive.....

Until O2 fix the ongoing issues with their message servers I can only suggest a different network....

Trouble is I've seen similar complaints about Vodafone too.

Is there a network that has no issues?

No, of course not. No network is completely fault free but O2's messaging system has to be the worst one out there. I use whatsapp & GTalk now as much as possible due to the unreliable O2 sms service.

Thank you very much for replies slight_smile Would you recommend using an app instead? I've heard of Whatsapp before but wasn't sure whether it was worth trying.

Ah okay, I've installed that app so thanks for the tip. I don't think it's going to solve the problem since most of my friends don't use it (and don't have smartphones) but it'll be useful for the few people I've found who do have it!

I know this is an old thread but I have been having similar issues with exactly the same phone, HTC Sensation XE. Anyone know if this is an Android/HTC issue instead?
