New phone won't except sim

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 that was locked to the O2 network. I previously had an iPhone 4s. I have taken my sim from the old phone and put it in the galaxy, but it is saying there is no service. The signal strength is full and I gave checked the networks and it is connected to O2 but will not let me make calls, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Most welcome.

If you Google their are sites such as Checkmend as one example that will tell you if the phone is barred.

Does your sim work in a different phone?

As @Anonymous says he bought the phone privately (though not from Ebay) maybe he should go back to the seller to check out the phones history....

A very good idea @Cleoriff

Hopefully it's someone in their circle of friends and not privately off places such as GumTree or Facebook Selling sites which is usually meeting a stranger ,and paying via cash.

I have spoken to O2 tech and they have said it is possibly because my settings on current sim are set up for iPhone so they are sending a new sim out. Hopefully this does the trick. The phone does have full signal when I insert the sim but will not connect to network.

That would possibly hinder data usage.

Hope thus resolves for you.

It is displaying classic symptoms of a blocked IMEI.
Fingers crossed for the new sim card but I fear it will not help..... 😞

Is there anything that can be done for a blocked IMEI? Or is it a write off?
