NFC icon flickering on HTC One - How to disable NFC?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello I am using a HTC One_M8.  I would like to turn off NFC - because I don't use it and the icon incessantly flickers at the top of the screen.

Many of the google articles say that you should go into....settings.....more.....and then turn off NFC.  *however* this option seems to be disabled, perhaps by O2.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Best wishes Rob

@Anonymous As @MI5 has said, it's very doubtful that it would have anything to do with O2. Your best option would be to contact HTC support directly. http://www.htc.com/uk/contact/phone/

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

No, O2 would not disable NFC.
If you can't turn it off it would suggest a software issue with the phone.
Do you actually see the NFC option?

Hi thanks for the quick response.  under settings...more I can see the NFC option however it is greyed out and set to ON.  And therefore I don't have the option to turn it to OFF.  I am not sure whether o2 have done this, or perhaps there could be a dependency from another app or service which I would need to disable first.  However for the moment as mentioned it is greyed out and cannot be disabled.  The phone otherwise works perfectly

Yes it does sound like something else is controlling it independently of the phones main setting.
What other apps have you got that have access to NFC control?
