My friend's phone number starts 07 but I get messages from 077

So basically my friends number starts 07 so FOR EXAMPLE 071234567 but I receive messages from him as the number 0771234567 but I have to send messages to him on the first number so what's up with that and how do I fix it?

I guess it's an iPhone with the wrong number in the settings.
Settings >Phone >MyNumber

Sounds like their clid is screwed up.
What network are they on?

Ok, so firstly try deleting their number from your contacts and then save them again from the next text they send.
Which number works for calls?
Also get them to check if they have saved their number wrong to their SIM card somehow?
