I have spent the last hour trying to report a lost phone. The ficticious 24 hour help line tells me that it is closed! The live chat is seemingly dead saying that everyone is too busy to talk to me. I hereby serve notice that I am not responsible for any cost associated with my phone after 21.15pm 28th August 2015. Your service has failed me and thus, being in breech of any contract I am no longer liable for the service that you have failed to deliver

Ignore the line closed and stay on the phone until she has finished speaking. You will then get the option to report the phone lost. It's a 24 hour helpline.

@Anonymous This is a customer to customer forum. Your notice here counts for nothing. O2 do not monitor this site. Report the loss to the police and keep trying to call the O2 number.

@Actually @Anonymous you will be liable for costs as you won't have taken measures to get the phone barred & O2 have been informed

Actually this service needs changing asap. Not many people realise they have to stay on the line till the automated we are closed message finishes. I also hope @Anonymous came back to read these messages and has also reported the loss of the phone to the police (and their insurance company... all supposing they have insurance)

Every little change to O2's systems seem to take forever. This one should be high priority and I can't understand why it hasn't been implemented already.
