Lost 3G

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have always had good coverage from my Sony Xperia U on O2, however recently I had to send my phone away for repair and the whole phone was re-set. As a result I lost contacts, text messages etc. I have also noticed that there is no 3G coverage anymore, just the 2G. Could this be due to the phone being re-set? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Grace

I have spoken directly to 02, who have said there is a problem with a mast in the area and the problem will be hopefully sorted soon. However when I checked this online there was no reported problems.
Hopefully this will be sorted soon, thanks for all the help slight_smile

Probably the hard reset, try sending ACTIVE to 2020.

Your contacts should hopefully be backed up to your Gmail account. Try syncing the phone.

Good Morning,

Check the Service Status in your area to ensure the masts are operating Ok.

http://status.o2.co.uk/

If a wipe down of your sim does not help then maybe you could need an new sim card.

A blank can be picked up from any 02 shop or have one posted to you.

The process takes from a few hours to around 24 hours to re activate all your services, and turning your phone off and on throughout this period typically helps it to reset.

If after following the advice given and you still are not getting 3G, then hand the phone back for further assessment.

Might be possible that your settings have been changed to not allow 3G. Some people do this for more reliable coverage if they are in a struggling 3G area. I don't know my way around Sony phones, but somewhere in settings I would imagine there is something to do with networks / data. Just check that the phone is set to search for 3G.

Thanks, I have checked the 3G coverage and there is none for my postcode. This is very annoying though as I used to have great coverage at home.

Thanks for the help!

I'm a bit confused, are you not getting coverage where you always had it before?

Does the service status page show a fault in your area?

Yeah, I always had coverage at home before. Then I had to send my phone off for repair, where it was reset and now I only have 2G coverage.
There doesn't show a fault in the area and when I checked the coverage map it says there is no 3G coverage, I also had it fine before the phone went fo repair though.

Did you send O2ACTIVE to 2020 and get a response?
