Just updated my phone to the new O2 GT-I9100P OS.
I have a GT-I9100P which I couldn't wait for O2 to update, so I unlocked it (free of charge through O2), and installed the Samsung standard GT-I9100 OS to be going on with.
I downloaded the new MD5 file from Sammobile and used Odin to do the update. Unfortunately after the update I got the "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" dialogue box. This kept appearing every 20 seconds or so, until after three or four times the phone kept re-booting.
I had to do a full factory reset to the the phone to get it to function properly again, and since then Kies has failed to recognise the phone, so I can't restore the backup. This has meant an annoying hour or two putting all the settings and appearances back to how I like them, and downloading a few apps.
The phone appears to be back to how it was, running android 4.1.2, PDA I9100PXXLSS and CSC I9100PO2ULS7. Can anyone confirm this looks right.
I haven't had chance to judge the battery performance, since all the fiddling about I've done has run it down quite a lot.
Finally, since I've installed the new O2 OS with the NFC capability, can anyone tell me
a) how does it work
b) what sort of things do people use it for
Thanks

Hi,
I think LSN saw a battery drain fix so if you were running 4.1.2 LSD from O2 then you could well see an improvement. But previously O2 already had LSW for the standard S2 so if you were already on that it might just be placebo.

Hi there,
Yes, that's spot on. Enjoy

Hi folks. I updated my Galaxy Ace 2 to an Italian (at least I think it is) Jellybean using Odin recently and this morning a software update icon appeared on myphone info banner. It disappeared without doing anything. Presumably this was the Uk jellybean update which did not proceed as I already have the foreign version. Can anyone tell me if I can change fro the non uk to the uk firmware, and should I bother?
Current details:
4.1.2
Baseband I8160XXMC8
Kernel version says:
3.0.31-1016990
se.infra@SEP-129#2
SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 26 08:21:11
KST 2013
Build number JZ054K.I8160XXMC8
Any help gratefully appreciated.

Did you mean Galaxy S2, rather than Galaxy Ace 2, which is what you've put in your post?
As far as I know you can install any Operating System versions for the S2 as long as it's not locked to a providers network.
I'd personally be far happier with an OS that was released for use in my own country. I know Orange were the first to release a JB upgrade for the GT-I9100P, and that O2 released theirs last week.
If you follow the instructions below, you will be able to install virually any S2 firmware you want. If you want to get firmwares, the easiest way is to register with Sammobile (it's free), and download them from there.
"To all who want to to flash Samsung JB ROM which WILL NOT ROOT OR INVALIDATE ANY WARRANTY download the Odin programme from here http://www.android.gs/download-odin-3-07/ then download the ROM of your choice from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ (type I9100 in the search box), once you have this file downloaded open Odin and put your phone into download mode (vol down + home+ power) and connect your phone to PC with data cable. You should see the com port box change colour then click the box that says "pda" and add the file you downloaded from Sammobile (should be an .md5 file after unzipping it), then press start. Once complete you will have an official Samsung ROM on your phone which will not in any way effect your warranty." The above is courtesy of MI5
As MI5 says, if you have any problems after you've installed a new OS, you may have to do a factory reset when you've finished.
You can see what happened to me by looking at my post at the top of this page. My phone seems to be working OK now though. I just can't get Kies to recognise it. Personally I hate Kies and thinks it's one of the worst pieces of software I've ever used.
Have fun.

I don't know whether ODIN works with Ace 2's.
I'm no expert, just a plagerist really.
Anyway I'm doing this from work, and I've eaten my sandwich, so it's back to the grindstone.
