HTC One microphone issue on calls

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi, I've been having a problem with my HTC One I picked up from O2 at the end of last month. When I call someone or pick up a call they can't always hear me. If I place the call on loud speaker or the hands free kit then it's fine. I thought it may have been the case that caused the problem as it does cover the mic hole at the bottom of the phone but the problem persists with the case removed. I can talk to others every now and again after I switch from loud speaker back to hand set but not always. I've looked online and it seems that others also have this issue but no solution yet, any help on this would be appreciated. I will have to go to the O2 store eventually if I can't fix this, not looking forward to setting up all my apps and such again slight_frown

Thanks in advance for any help.

@MI5

How on earth is it an aggressive post to suggest the networks and HTC admit there are teething problems with the handset? The word 'aggressive' is totally misappropriated these days and simply used when people have firm opinions that others like you don't agree with.

I've had the same problem too. I don't see anything wrong in what Rosesarerd is saying. It is not a minor defect. She has already had 2 handsets, why should she have to put up with the handset going in for repair and being left without a proper smartphone? Perhaps it is a bit drastic to suggest a recall but your response leaves a lot to be desired.

There appears to be a hardware problem with the mic in the HTC One and it is useful for it to be flagged up and taken more seriously. It will save a lot of future repairs and replacements and even prevent lost customers?

It's a stunning phone and I hope HTC have every success with it. I'm sure O2 are doing their best and hopefully the networks and HTC will solve this unfortunate defect.

I said the post (tone) was aggressive but I sympathised with the situation and offered my advice. If you don't like my opinion or thoughts just ignore them.

Equally if you don't like their 'tone' then don't comment either. 'Aggressive' is the overstatement of the year.

Why should they have to tolerate a repair on a new phone? If it was some time into the warranty period, it would be an entirely different matter.

HTC have a serious teething problem with some of the first generation batch and it needs to be flagged up and addressed.

The point was that replacing the phone over and over was pointless if there was a bad batch and you got another with a faulty mic from the same batch. A replacement mic could be checked by the repairer. As it's not your issue I don't know why you are butting in anyway?

You've offered nothing constructive !!

I'm perfectly calm and have better things to do than justify my comments wink

I have suggested that the issue needs to be recognised and not dismissed and I support the previous poster in saying it is a common fault in the initial release. I am sitting here with a defective HTC One Unit myself. Beautiful screen and music playback but no-one can hear me on the other end of the phone.

What's constructive about having a brand new phone repaired and being without one? Perhaps the batch of mics are faulty from a particular supplier and the fault may be repeated? Just as the retina screens in the 1st batch of MBP Retinas were the defect. I had 3 repairs and nothing was achieved. A complete replacement unit resolved the issue.

Anyway I've said enough and it's pointless trying to point out things to people who exaggerate and believe they are always right. Thankyou for your comments and have a nice bank holiday weekend! slight_smile
