HTC One Overheating problem

Anonymous
Not applicable

I know this is normal for a phone but it gets so hot I can't even use it. When on Phone the phone has managed to melt ice. Is this normal for this device or should I be worried. I haven't even tried playing a game yet but I can imagine it would only make the matter worse.

Thanks for any help

Everythings sorted now. I swapped my bolton and had to restore to a custom rom as the default vodafone one wouldn't work with the O2 network. I'm now using stock Android and all is fine.

I would try clearing the cache, remove any app you don't use and check how it goes over the next 24 hours. You might want to think about downloading Onavo from the playstore to check battery usage.

While its normal for a phone to heat up it certainly should be heating up so much that you cannot comfortably use it. How long have you had the phone?

I work for O2 but my comments and opinions posted here are solely my own and do not reflect those of Telefonica.

It sounds as though you have a rouge app or a heavy battery discharge. The phone will get warm but shouldn't overheat to that extent.

Try going into power options and tick CPU power and turn off data connection when the screen is off.

Hi,

All good advice by the guys there.

I would go with getting the phone back in the hands of the Manufacturer if its getting so hot that your unable to use it.

It may be worth also noting that since the HTC ONE is a metal body phone and as we all know metal conducts heat it will always be warmer than a plastic phone.

For example when my HTC is under heavy load it will get hot within 5 minutes, although not to the stage where I can't hold it anymore. When using temperature monitors that battery reaches into the 60's and then some.
