You cannot go over your allowance any more. O2 used to allow you to keep using data at a very slow rate, but they now just cut it off, so there's no chance of you going over your limit.

Hi
Are you on pay as you go or contract?
What is your monthly allowance?
Do you have access to wifi?
You can check in settings what apps are using your allowances.
Possibly bigger data bolt on would help.

Turn your data off overnight as this is usually the time when apps update and so that would drain your data.

A lot of Android handsets have a built in monthly data counter where a warning & also a limit can be set.

That isn't true, it's when O2 add the data charges to your account for the previous day's usage.
They will simply appear when you turn the data back on.
Apps only update when you tell them to in the settings.
