Galaxy S7 seal broken

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi I got a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge today from the O2 store.

Once I got home, I went to open it and noticed that the seal had been broken.

On opening the box I noticed that there was a finger print on the box.

I was annoyed at first, then checked everything else and everything seems ok...

I I set the phone up etc and thought it will be ok.

However now it is bugging me, got the phone 3 days before release and why was it opened?!?!

On the seal it says "Do not accept if seal is broken. Caution sealed package. If seal has been broken or tampered with, do not give clear receipt unless contents are examined in presence or delivering agent".

It is really annoying me now, I may take it back and cancel the contract as in 14 day period; unless they give me another handset which is sealed!

What do you think?

Let me ask you guys something;

1) Is it acceptable that your phone has been tampered with before selling it to you?

and

2) What would you do? (I found out when I got home, if I had noticed in shop it would have been different)

1. No. Even the manufacturer tells you to not accept it.
2. Contact O2 and request a reason why, if they failed to provide good enough reason, request a replacement.

Umm? I'm also intrigued, what is it you have to your advantage?

I'm probably being thick again, but?

Ok so I was refused instore swap or return... After they checked cctv they said the seal was on the box when I took the phone; I never at anytime said there was no seal on the box, but I did say that the seal was broken!

Funny thing was that when the manager got back to me after speaking to the sales assistant; what I was hearing was different to what happened on the day of purchase.

Something was going on there!

I spoke to customer services via telephone who suggested that I email a complaint and get it escalated which I did and I got a call back saying that now I can swap the handset. Result!

Back to the store was refused swap and went ahead with cancelling the contract and reverting back to my old tariff.

Now I've ordered the S7 Edge via the phone and will have it tomorrow.

Wish me luck... Haha

p.s had previous problems with the store and its staff; was sorted out with help from somebody from the directors office. I won't be going back to the store again!

So glad it's sorted @Anonymous As you say something not quite right in that store.

Glad you persevered wink

Best of luck with the new one...
