Galaxy S4 camera and video unable to use zoom facility

Just bought the S4 and have been unable to use the camera or video with the zoom facility. It keeps saying cannot be used in this mode although I have tried every mode and none work. Have tried hard reboot and also delete cache as advised on other android forums but still nothing. I understand this is a known problem but I am getting so frustrated that until I get it sorted I am not bringing over my usual mobile number! Another problem, maybe unrelated is that I can view and play my music in Play but it does not show in any other folder and cannot pick any of the songs for my ringtone. I currently do not have micro sd fitted. Any help for this middle aged, confused woman would be much appreciated. By the way - the user manual is useless!

How long you had the phone for?

If under 14 days, take to an o2 store as faulty and have it replaced

(that's of course if bought from o2)

Also, is your software up to date?

From what I recall the camera issue is firmware related and was fixed in an update.
Go into Settings >My Device >About >Software update >Check Now and see if there is an update available.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by playing music in "Play" ??
If you mean you have music on a cloud server you won't be able to set it as a ringtone - you will have to save the music file to your device to do this....

How weird I've just tried zooming on my s4 and the same thing it says cannot zoom in or out in this mode (all modes)

Youve probably got the phone mode in "easy"...you need to change it back to "standard"...easy settings-change homesceen-standard mode
