Firmware rooting

I bought my samsung galaxy s second hand  after trying to do updates play certain games it wouldn't let me so my friend had a look and he says it has been rooted with wrong firmware what can I do to put this right ?

Giving advice on rooting is against the T&C's of the forum which is the point Pablo was making. In your case, you need to revert back to standard which is easily accomplished with a piece of software called Odin. You also need to download the correct firmware file for your phone. All the required files are available from www.sammobile.com. Come back if you need any more help.

I'm pretty sure that rooting a) invalidates your warranty b) is illegal and c) is probably not allowed to be discussed on this forum.

Google is your friend in this case.

im not that great with phones....looks like i been stung with  phone i dont no wat to do with it i no when i try to connect to kies to update  phone which iv been told to do it wont connect  i may just pay to try n get it done thanks anyway

It won't talk to Kies unless it has standard firmware on it. It will take you 5 mins to flash it after you have downloaded the firmware.
