Dropping wifi connection

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi, my galaxy S4 has suddenly started dropping wifi connection. It will connect but only for a minute or so before it disconnects and I then get a notification telling me it has reconnected. This happens on all the wifi connections I have in various places so it can't be the wifi as all other devices in the house stay connected just fine. Any ideas how to sort this as it it's driving me mad!! Thanks

I'll second Smart Network switch too if you want wifi to remain connected.
The idea of the switch is that the phone will keep switching to the stronger of the two signals between mobile and wifi so it will drop wifi if it detects a stronger mobile signal.

Check in settings >> wifi and make sure smart network box is unticked.

Then select the menu from the bottom left softkey and select advanced. Make sure the keep wifi on is set to always.

If you turn this smart network switch off @MI5 what happens if you go outside and there is no wifi available? Do you have to switch it back on? Or will it just connect to the strongest network available?

Just wondering what the point of it is really....?

Have you dowloaded any updates or made any major changes to your phone that could be the cause of the sudden WiFi issue?

If it can't find wifi it will just use mobile data.

The point of it is that with smart switch on it will always use the best signal available but some prefer that wifi is always used where available even if the download speed is slower than an available mobile signal.
